Canary Islands Orienteering – A Sustainable Event

The Canary Islands are a unique treasure and we want to contribute to their conservation … with your help.
🌱 Commitment to Sustainability

Our sporting events not only strive for excellence in sports, but we also want to leave a positive footprint on the environment. That is why we apply a series of concrete measures to reduce environmental impact and promote a more responsible lifestyle. We also count on your help (we’ll tell you how you can make our event more sustainable in the race bulletin).

🚍 Responsible Mobility

  • We encourage the use of public transport and car sharing to reduce emissions.
  • We provide information about sustainable transport options and locate parking areas in safe, accessible places with low environmental impact.

⚡ Clean Energy

  • We minimize the use of generators and prioritize efficient equipment. All our equipment and some of our vehicles are powered by renewable energy.
  • We make the most of natural light when planning the event.
  • We use 100% renewable energy and offset our entire carbon footprint. 100% Carbon Free.

💧 Responsible Water Use

  • Water-saving systems in our facilities and offices.
  • At refreshment stations, we use collective dispensers so that everyone can refill their own container, avoiding single-use packaging.

🛒 Sustainable Purchasing

  • We adjust purchases to actual needs to avoid waste.
  • We prioritize reusable products and local suppliers (Km 0).
  • We minimize packaging and waste in all services.

🏗️ Responsible Infrastructures

  • Whenever possible, we make use of existing infrastructures.
  • We use temporary and reusable structures.
  • Sound systems, lighting and electrical equipment are selected with efficiency, low consumption, and renewable energy criteria in mind.

♻️ Zero Waste

  • Prevention policy following the 7Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, etc.).
  • Selective waste collection in all areas and institutional support for proper treatment.
  • Refreshment stations without disposable cups or containers: everyone uses their own container.
